Why I Love the Jeff Galloway App: A RunDisney Training Companion with Beats, Sass, and Southern Charm

Let’s be honest — half the battle of RunDisney training is showing up. The other half? Finding something that makes it fun enough to want to show up again the next day. For me, that something is the Jeff Galloway app.
As a woman in my 50s training for RunDisney events, I’ve tried all the training plans, playlists, podcasts, and pep talks. But nothing quite hits like the combo of Jeff’s gentle Southern accent whispering “you can do it!” in my ear... and a surprisingly motivating, borderline rave-style music track pulsing in the background.
Yes, I said rave. I’m not sure what’s more energizing — the walk/run intervals or the music that reminds me of the warehouse dance parties I used to sneak into in my 20s. Who knew that interval training and glowsticks had so much in common?
What I Love About the Jeff Galloway App
Encouragement that feels personal. Jeff’s voice is calm, supportive, and has just the right amount of Georgia charm. It feels like your very own run coach with you the whole way, cheering you on without yelling.
Upbeat (and a little nostalgic) music. The tracks are energetic enough to keep your feet moving, and if you, too, once danced until sunrise in the '90s — you might find yourself smiling through your long run for reasons you didn’t expect.
Easy-to-follow intervals. Whether you're a beginner or easing back into a rhythm, the walk/run method helps reduce injuries and makes even the longest training runs feel manageable.
Race-specific training options. The app allows you to train for specific distances — perfect for preparing for RunDisney’s 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, or the ahem Goofy or Dopey Challenges.
Why This Matters for RunDisney Training
RunDisney events are magical, yes — but also real races with real distances and real training needed. And while I’m all in for running in a tiara and tutus, I also want to finish strong and injury-free. That’s where Jeff’s app (and method) shines.
If you’re not quite ready for an app or just want to dip your toes into structured training, head over to the RunDisney website. They offer free downloadable training plans, designed by Jeff himself, tailored to each race distance. It’s a great starting point — and did I mention, free?
Final Thought
Whether it’s the voice in your ear, the beat in your step, or the dream of a castle at mile 13, find something that makes training fun for you. For me, it’s Jeff, rave flashbacks, and a whole lot of sparkle.
So lace up, hit play, and remember…You can do it — and Jeff agrees.
